Moving in Sunny Isles Beach: What to Know

Sunny Isles Beach is a barrier-island city between the Atlantic and the Intracoastal Waterway, under two square miles in size and almost entirely high-rise: about 94% of its homes are in buildings with 20 or more units, and in 2020 it was the most densely populated incorporated place outside the New York City area. The first single-family homes went up in Golden Shores in the 1950s; the oceanfront along Collins Avenue, once known as Motel Row, is now a skyline of hotel and condominium towers.

Collins Avenue (A1A) is the main road, running north toward Hollywood Beach and south to Haulover Park; Sunny Isles Boulevard (SR 826) crosses to North Miami Beach, and the William Lehman Causeway (SR 856) to Aventura.

With nearly every home in a tower, book the service elevator and the loading dock with your building early. Moving containers are allowed only in residential zones, for up to 14 consecutive days (extendable to 30) and no more than four times a year, and your association's rules still apply.
